How to Use an Automated Car Wash: 7 Simple Steps for First Time Customers

If your idea of a pleasant Saturday does not involve a water hose, a bucket of bubbles, and a sponge, you might prefer to use an automated car wash to clean your vehicle. Car washes are widely available and very simple to use. For a few dollars, you can have your vehicle looking squeaky clean in a couple of minutes. Consider these tips before using an automated car wash for the first time. The main goal of car detailing products is to get rid of any dirt, dust, salt, or other debris that collects on your car over time.

7 Things to Know about a Car Wash

1. Locate a car wash. Many gas stations have attached or detached garages that house automated car washes. In fact, many gas stations offer car washes at discounted rates to drivers who purchase their fuel there. In some areas, car washes can also be found as free standing businesses.

2. Drive up to the payment station. Most automated car washes have a station, similar to a fast food drive-thru window, that allows drivers to select the type of car wash they want and pay for it. A car wash may offer three or four different packages ranging from a basic wash to a wash that includes a coating of wax and detailing of your vehicle’s tires. Select the type of car wash that you want and pay for it.

3. Pull up to the opening of the car wash. Look for any signs or arrows that indicate where you are supposed to stop your vehicle. Automated car washes vary in function.

4. Most car washes require drivers to drive forward until their vehicle’s front tires are aligned with a track system that will guide their car through the wash. Lights and arrows will notify you when you have successfully placed your vehicle onto this track. Put your vehicle in park if it has an automatic transmission or neutral if it has a manual transmission. Take your foot off of the brake. Do not apply the emergency brake.

5. It is very important to roll up all your vehicle’s windows while going through an automated car wash. If you have small children in your car, it might be wise to lock the windows so that they do not accidentally get rolled down during the car wash.

6. When the car wash begins, your vehicle will be moved forward by the track system. As the vehicle’s driver, you are not required to do anything during this time. Automated car washes can be quite loud and you may feel your car shake a bit as the brushes and water jets move back and forth over your vehicle. Choose from this website your HD car care product.

7. After the wash cycle is finished, you will be notified when it is safe to exit the garage area by a sign or flashing light. Slowly exit the car wash, exerting caution for other vehicle or pedestrians, especially if the car wash was located in close proximity to gas station.

How to Clean a Driveway

Driveways attract oil stains, mud, and dirt through normal wear and tear. While it is easy to sweep and remove debris, getting out stains can be much tougher. There are many options for cleaning your driveway such as pressure washing, using items already in your household, or chemical cleaners for those tough stains. When it’s time to construct a new driveway, you have to choose your materials and also the cement driveway cost Perth.

1. Clear out your driveway. Remove any loose materials, cars, dirt, or stone from your driveway. If your driveway touches any doors or walls, cover them with cardboard, a tarp, or some painter’s tape. This will protect them from any debris that may fly around while you are pressure washing.[1]

  • Check to see which end of your driveway is the highest and what direction the water will flow while you are washing.
  • Create a dam to manage the drainage. It is best if your water is absorbed by your lawn. If the water drains into a storm drain, you will be introducing chemicals into your local water supply.[2]

2) Apply a degreaser to the stain. Oil and antifreeze stains are the stains you will most likely have on your driveway. Before you use a pressure washer, apply a degreaser to the stain.[3] Allow the degreaser to sit on the stain for a few hours to soak up the stain, then reapply.

  • Use the degreaser at full strength for older stains that have penetrated your driveway. Dilute the degreaser with water for newer stains.[4]
  • Follow the dilution instructions on the degreaser bottle. The dilution ratio will vary depending on the product that you use.
  • Once you have allowed the degreaser to sit, scrub it into the stain using a wire brush.

3) Set up your pressure washer. Typically you will use a pressure hose to connect the spray wand to the washer and connect the washer to a garden hose.

  • The setup may vary depending on the pressure washer that you are using.
  • Always read the instructions before you set up the pressure washer.[5]

The pressure washer comes with both low pressure and high pressure nozzles.
If your cleaning a brick driveway, do not use the high pressure nozzle at all except on very stubborn stains.

4) Apply the detergent to your driveway. The instructions that come with your pressure washer will tell you what type of detergent you should use. Only use detergents that have been formulated to use with a pressure washer.[6] Use the low pressure nozzle to apply the detergent to your driveway. Point the nozzle downward and move back and forth over your driveway. Allow the detergent to sit on your driveway for 15 minutes.[7]

  • Do not allow the detergent to dry on your driveway. If you notice that is getting dried out, apply some water to your driveway.
  • Do not add bleach to your pressure washer because the bleach may cause damage to the washer.[8]
  • Start at the higher end of the driveway and move in the direction that water flows.

5) Rinse your driveway. After fifteen minutes, use the high pressure nozzle to wash away the detergent. Make sure you set the pressure washer to rinse mode. Use the same pattern you used when you were applying the detergent.[9]

  • Be sure to wash away all of the detergent.
  • Pay extra attention to the heavily stained, dirtier areas of your driveway, which may require higher pressure.
  • You can use a surface cleaner attachment for more effective cleaning. If you use this attachment, do a final rinse without the attachment one all of the detergent and dirt are gone.[10]

Common Beauty Salon Logo Images

Every culture and era has their own symbols that represent beauty so it would pay to research this online to get ideas. You may find some ancient Greek or Chinese beauty symbols that look great and have not been used yet. There are also many things in the natural world that are symbols of beauty such as a flower or a butterfly. Better yet, why not think of your own symbol for beauty.

Images associated with female beauty such as the eyes, lips and hands are also commonly incorporated into logo designs for beauty and nail salons. Tanning salon logos are generally a little different and include imagery related to the tropic, the beach or the sun.

One great way to quickly check out a wide sample of logos for beauty salons, tanning salons or nail salons is to try a Google image search. Using a keyword like ‘beauty logos’ you can bring up a wide variety of industry examples.

Ideas on Fonts

Cursive fonts are popular in beauty industry logos. This classic style of writing is not always the easiest to read but flows together nicely in a way that is feminine and delicate.

More contemporary looking fonts with block lettering can work well too if you want an overall design that looks modern and can be read clearly. Ask your designer to offer you a variety of fonts on your logo samples as the font style can really affect the impact of the final design.

Color Selection and Combinations

A quick glance over a number of beauty salon logos reveals that many still go for feminine colors such as pink and purple. The Great Ski Race – a Tahoe winter staple – ready for triumphant return

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — The Great Ski Race finally returns to Lake Tahoe on Sunday, March 6, after being canceled the past two years — and three of the last four — due to lack of snow. Canada ski packages has some wonderful ideas for creating your own custom ski vacation.

The largest cross-country ski race west of the Mississippi, The Great Ski Race covers 30 kilometers with 1,200 feet of uphill and 1,800 of downhill between Tahoe City and Truckee.

The race’s current record time is one hour, seven minutes, and the final contestant typically crosses the finish line within seven hours.

A RACE AS REWARDING AS IT IS CHALLENGING

Race veterans often reminisce about their fun times competing with friends over the years.

Truckee resident Jo Jo Toeppner, who has competed in every race since she moved to town in the 1980s, recalled the year she broke a pole and had to ski the race sharing her friend’s pole between them for most of the course.

“We came down the finish arm-in-arm and tumbled across the finish line,” laughed Toeppner.

Toeppner says she absolutely recommends The Great Ski Race to anyone thinking about signing up.

“It’s so great to ski a point-to-point race, to ski over the pass and down to the party,” she said, advising first-time competitors to pace themselves up the hill to Starratt Pass, as it’s not the last hill you climb.

The Great Ski Race represents the ultimate challenge for Nordic skiers and downhill or backcountry skiers who want to try their hand at cross-country skiing.

Participants say the race is as rewarding as it is challenging, and locals rave about the fun to be had at the finish line, where Truckee’s Cottonwood Restaurant and Bar loans their parking lot for the party, featuring food, live music and an awards presentation.

“The event draws skiers from around the country and around the world,” said Doug Read, co-race director for The Great Ski Race. “We see everyone from Olympic Nordic skiers to local skiers who are just out there to enjoy a ski in the woods with friends, great soup stations and a heck of a party.”

A GOOD TIME FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Beyond being a good time, The Great Ski Race serves as the main fundraiser for the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team, the nonprofit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to locating and recovering lost or injured skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, snowmobiles, hikers and climbers.

All funds raised from The Great Ski Race support the team’s year-round volunteer operations, as well as the winter survival and avalanche education programs the team sponsors and conducts at local schools.

A CRITICAL RESOURCE

The Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team has been an especially critical resource this winter, now that snow has finally returned to the region.

Since December, the team has conducted eight successful searches, bringing three skiers and five snowboarders safely home to their families. Search locations ranged just outside ski resort boundaries to deeper into the Tahoe backcountry, and most took place at night in stormy conditions.

In a letter to the team, one of the lost skiers wrote, “Words cannot express the amount of gratitude and respect I have for the search and rescue volunteers like yourself and the TNSAR organization! Without your rescue, my fate would have been much worse.”

The Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team was also among the more than 400 volunteers and numerous rescue agencies who looked for several days for 23-year-old Carson May, who was reported missing from Sugar Bowl Resort on January 15 and has not yet been found.

Through the positive outcomes and tragic loss, the team’s mission remains steadfast: to conduct fast, safe rescues and to educate the public about winter safety.

TAHOE NORDIC SEARCH AND RESCUE

Currently consisting of more than 100 volunteers, the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team was founded in 1976 and maintains an extremely high level of medical, mountaineering and skiing expertise among its ranks. Members include EMTs, emergency room nurses, firefighters, professional ski patrollers, paramedics and doctors.

The Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team has located more than 300 individuals to date, ultimately saving lives and bringing lost loved ones home whenever possible. The funds raised annually at The Great Ski Race help the team to continue their mission.

“The Great Ski Race is not only the main fundraiser for the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team, but it’s become an iconic winter event for the region,” said TNSAR president Chris McConnell. “The entire team is very proud of what the event has become.”

Make Vinyl Decals from Home

Make Money with a Vinyl Cutter

You can do the same work as most large sign shops in a corner of a room with very little money spent. You can make products to sell and earn an extra income with a vinyl cutter. Signwriters Sydney have supplied and installed many high-profile corporate signage and sale signs in Sydney and throughout Australia for many years.

I set up a small sign shop in a corner of a spare bedroom. I bought a Roland Stika SX-15 vinyl cutter which can hold up to a 15 inch wide roll of adhesive-backed vinyl film. I connect the vinyl cutter to an old laptop I was no longer using. The SX-15 hooks up to the parallel port and the computer recognizes the SX-15 as just another printer.

Roland provides an editing and printing software called Dr. Stika which can import .bmp bitmap files and convert them vector files which can be cut by the SX-15 vinyl cutter.

Once I upload a bitmap, convert it to a vector with a single button, I need to clean up around the edges of the vector so no cut lines intersect with any other lines. This is a simple process that anyone with basic computer skills can easily master. When the file is ready to cut, I hit the print button just like I would with any home printer. The Roland Stika Sx-15 then starts to cut into the vinyl without going to deep. Only the vinyl is cut but not the backing paper.

When the outlines of the picture is finished cutting the vinyl, I “weed” or remove pieces of vinyl that were cut and are not part of the picture. When all un-wanted pieces of vinyl are removed I cover the vinyl picture with a transfer film. This is used to cover the picture cut into the vinyl and secure the unconnected pieces of cut vinyl so it won’t loose it shape while I move it to the final destination surface you want to apply it to. Then I squeegee the air bubbles out of the vinyl and then remove only the transfer film. It’s just that simple, anyone can do it.

Cutting vinyl shapes can be an excellent side business.

Here are some ways I make money in my spare time with my Stika SX-15:

  • Decals for windows, Cutting masking for sandblasting mugs (I used regular vinyl, not the expensive sandblasting material).
  • Masking for liquid etching
  • Car decals; flames, swoosh, pin-striping
  • Tattoo decals. Copy the person’s tattoo and turn it into a decal for their car
  • Iron-on vinyl lettering and decals for T-shirts (my biggest money maker).
  • Creating yard signs (garage sale, home for sale)
  • Decals for laptops
  • Website decals that can be stuck anywhere like graffiti to get free advertisments.
  • Open hours signs for businesses
  • Pin-stripping decals for windows and motorcycles
  • Flame decals for motorcycle gas tanks and helmets
  • Ham radio call signs
  • Wall stickers
  • Custom stickers from someones hand drawn design
  • Wall quotes
  • Window decals, etc.

Vinyl cutters have dropped in price over the last few years. There are many economical package deals out there which include everything you need to get you started making money in a spare corner of a room.

Cutting a vinyl decal is super easy.
Sure there are better ways and a few tricks I left out. But I want to show you how easy it is to get started with a simple vinyl cutter. Once you can do this, then you can perfect your technique of cutting vinyl into products you can sell.

Stika vinyl cutter in action

Sell you crafts

There are so many ways to make an extra income with a vinyl cutter and you won’t need an office full of equipment. I keep all my supplies in plastic crates hidden in closets and under the bed in a spare bedroom. I have my vinyl cutter near my computer just like a standard printer. I use a fold-up table for the layout and applying the transfer tape which can be folded and put away under the bed when guests sleep over.

Having a vinyl cutter is a fun and exciting way to explore your creativity. Once you have a product designed that can sell, you can start selling on eBay or Etsy. Etsy is a great place to see your competition and get ideals for products to create using your cutter.

A vinyl cutter is a perfect way to enhance the look of products like clocks and photo frames. Adding vinyl cut boarders and graphics turns a dull clock or photo frame into a unique or custom made product you can easily sell.

Some of my biggest sellers were website; for example “www.enterjakarta.com.” Everyone knows someone who has a website they are promoting. Ask them if you can supply their website logo or name on a vinyl sticker. Website decals are sold in packs of ten, twenty or more. At a few bucks each you could easily make some serious cash within a few hours.

I also sold t-shirts using my vinyl cutter. I bought heat transfer vinyl material that can be cut with the vinyl cutter, then ironed-on to t-shirts using a simple home-use iron. The only thing to add is a sheet of wax paper or Teflon sheet to protect the vinyl from direct heat of the iron.

I sold many shirts at $15 each. A $200 heat press would be nice but not required. I like doing everything “on the cheap” at first, until I can afford the nice equipment. A simple $20 iron worked fine. My wife started helping with the ironing, and that worked great. In a few hours we could make a hundred dollars worth of shirts. First cut the vinyl, weed out the unwanted bits, put on the transfer film, move the vinyl to the shirt, then remove the transfer paper. Use a hot iron to secure the vinyl to the shirt permanently. It’s as easy as that, anyone can do, including you. For custom made signs for your business you may check our website.

10 Luxury Kitchen Ideas For Fraction of the Price

Wouldn’t you love for your kitchen to feel like a luxury home kitchen? The reality – you can achieve it for a fraction of the price. A luxurious home environment can be yours with these helpful tips. With these exquisite luxury kitchens Sydney, we are sure that you will build a beautiful spot in your home. When you buy a glass table top make sure you choose quality the over cheaper one.

1. Substitute granite countertops for granite top overlays. Several companies make a polymer/granite “shell” that fits directly over your current countertop. The result? A countertop that looks like you spent thousands, for half of the granite price.

2. Instead of marble tile flooring, use ceramic tile. Several man made varieties of tile mimic the look of marble and can save you money.

3. Substitute hard wood flooring with high-end laminate wood varieties. Hardwood is expensive and has high maintenance. High-end laminate flooring looks just like real hardwood, and comes in hundreds of choices. It also can get wet, and doesn’t scratch like hardwood flooring.

4. Substitute granite sinks for deep bowl- under mounted stainless steel sinks. Sinks can be expensive, especially when using granite, or other solid surface material. Use a deeper bowl, two or three compartment stainless steel sink. This will keep the sleekness you desire, without the high price tag.

5. Instead of custom faucets and fixtures, use ‘off the shelf’ varieties. Many luxury kitchens have high-end custom fixtures. These days, home improvement stores offer the same great looks, but by common manufacturers. Delta, Moen, American Standard are just a few that will save you money, without anyone knowing.

6. When renovating a kitchen, re-face wood cabinets instead of starting new. This process involves keeping the original cabinet, but having a laminate finish over the old. Cabinet and drawer fronts are brand new. With new door pull hardware added, the final look is of high-end cabinets that don’t hurt your wallet.

7. Instead of expensive, sleek metal cabinetry, use self-assembly cabinet manufacturers. Instead of spending thousands on sleek, modern cabinets visit a store like IKEA. They have dozens of choices for cabinetry that you can assemble yourself. If you need help, they have assistance that you can purchase separately.

8. Substitute stainless steel appliances for stainless steel finish appliances. Appliance manufacturers now offer stainless steel finish appliances. These appliances don’t give the fingerprints that stainless steel gives, and the appearance is still modern and luxurious.

9. Instead of crystal and expensive lighting fixtures, choose “off the shelf” fixtures. Pendant, recessed, and under counter lighting fixtures can be expensive. Use varieties that are readily available at your favorite lighting or home improvement store.

10. Instead of granite and mosaic tile backsplashes, consider using glass and ceramic tile. Mosaic tile and granite can be expensive and laborious to install. With the wide variety of tiles the options are limitless. You can achieve a high end backsplash, to compliment your luxurious kitchen without the cost! Visit website for more glass table top designs.

How To: Clean Concrete

When it comes time to learn how to clean concrete, realize you don’t need to be delicate; after all, it’s a very hard material. Calculating the cost of new driveway Perth requires that you consider several options.

In order to clean concrete outdoors, you can rent a pressure washer for use in combination with a biodegradable detergent. Indoors, your supplies are likely to be a bucket, detergent, and scrub brush, with or without a wet/dry vac at job’s end.

These approaches will enable you to get a long way toward removing ground-in dirt, mildew, spilled paint and most food stains. But the bad news for the fastidious homeowner is that concrete is a porous material with innumerable tiny voids that can harbor dirt, mold, and all kinds of deep, stubborn stains.

I once tried cleaning a concrete floor that had been exposed to leaky oil pans and transmissions for years and years. Power washing did very little. What helped a little, though ultimately not enough, was scrubbing the area with TSP, then hitting it with the hose. As a last resort, I used an application of muriatic acid, which successfully vanquished all of the remaining oil spots.

Muriatic acid is also useful in cleaning excess smears of dried mortar and grout, or when attempting to alleviate tough rust stains. But please be advised that you must be extremely cautious with this powerful acid. Don’t even use muriatic acid unless you really need to. If you must, then be sure to wear protective gear (including protective clothing) and always follow the manufacturer’s directions for dilution. Allow for plenty of ventilation.

My preference is to begin with the least toxic cleanser and up the ante as needed – especially when first learning how to clean concrete. Try applying common detergents directly to the tough spots and scrubbing with a bristle (not wire) brush. Hydrogen peroxide or ammonia also work well.

For indoor jobs, you might try scrubbing with TSP before rolling on a masonry primer and a masonry topcoat. Such a coating would hide the old stains and seal the concrete to prevent further staining.

Concrete sealer is a reliable option for avoiding stains in the first place. Choose a clear silane- or siloxane-based water-repellent sealer and apply the product with a paint sprayer or roller. Sealing will not affect the appearance or traction of the concrete surface.
